Shawnee Vet Services

We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for our patients. Our facility is well equipped to provide that level of care. From wellness exams and vaccinations to long-term medical care, surgery and radiography, Quivira Road Animal Clinic is a Shawnee vet you can trust to help you care for your pet’s needs.

Wellness Exams

Whether you have a new furry friend or a long time pal, regular check-ups keep your pet happy and healthy! At the wellness exam, we’ll thoroughly examine your pet for any abnormalities, discuss any behavior or diet options, and conduct a risk assessment to determine the need for any vaccines, and/or prevention medication. We may also screen for any parasites. We will tell you ahead of your scheduled exam if we need you to bring anything with you, like a pet’s stool sample.

For adult pets, we recommend a yearly exam and vaccinations. Yearly wellness exams can help, and prevent, such long term health problems like tumors, heart disease, dental problems, dermatology problems, among others. Some younger and older pets may need to be seen more frequently.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are among the most important defenses against disease for your pets, protecting them from a variety of severe illnesses. Vaccines can also prevent bacterial infections. Certain vaccines, like rabies, are required as part of the Kansas state laws.

Our experienced staff will make sure the process is as painless and low-stress as possible for your buddy. Believe it or not, vaccines are often well-received by our pets. During your appointment we’ll also educate you on what vaccines are being administered, why, and what vaccines might be needed in the future. See our vaccination graphics below for more info on what vaccines are recommended, based on the age of your pet!

Surgery

Routine surgical procedures, including spays and neuters, mass removals and laceration repairs are among the services we offer. It can be frightening to hear that your pet needs surgery. It’s not a recommendation that we take lightly. Not all surgery is a life and death matter for your pet. Some surgeries are meant to eliminate a nagging pain, or functional issues. Most surgery on pets are low risk procedures and will help extend the quality of life of your pet.

Veterinary medicine has advanced a lot in recent years, and we’ll use all the modern technology to get your furry friend back on its feet in no time! Before surgery, we’ll discuss all the options available so that you can make an informed decision, based on what you feel is best for your family. We’ll also examine the pet to ensure surgery can be done safely. On surgery day, we’ll make sure that your pet is safe, while keeping you updated as often as possible.

Radiology

Our Lenexa vet clinic is equipped with digital radiography. X-rays are a tool that allow us to diagnose many ailments and ensure proper treatment of those conditions.

Dentistry

Many animals need routine dental cleanings to keep their mouths healthy. For good candidates, a short-acting sedation is administered. An oral examination and teeth cleaning are performed, then the teeth are polished and treated with fluoride.

End of Life Services

No one ever wants to say good bye to a beloved pet. We are here to provide guidance, compassion and comfort during the difficult time.

Shawnee Veterinary Services | Here at Every Stage of Life

For almost four decades our veterinary clinic has been providing exceptional general veterinary care for pets all over the Kansas City, KS Metro area.

Have a new pet? The first thing you should do with your new kitten or puppy is make an appointment to see a veterinarian. At this young age, your pet is susceptible to parasites like fleas and worms, as well as respiratory infections and other conditions. It can be easy to get distracted by their cute paws and noses, but proper healthcare should always come first.

After your pet grows out of the puppy or kitten stage, many health risks become less likely, however, proper care is always important. It is vital that you take your dog or cat to get regular full wellness screens, dental cleanings and grooming. These services that we provide keep your pet healthy and full of life.

As your dog or cat grows and ages, they require frequent exams, in order to detect early warning signs of disease. Just like humans, some issues that arise with age include arthritis, weight issues and certain cancers. With proper care, you can keep your pet feeling young and healthy and looking great!

Quivira Road Animal Clinic will teach every client about senior pet care, so that they are always equipped and knowledgeable on how to keep their senior pet healthy. From diet needs, to more serious illness, we will do everything we can to keep your best friend healthy for years to come.
